Introduction

The Two Days Training on Application of Bioinformatics in Research and Development will be a comprehensive and insightful program which is aimed to equip participants with the skills and knowledge to harness the power of bioinformatics in their scientific pursuits. This training will cover a diverse range of topics, including sequence analysis, protein structure prediction, data mining, and vaccine development. Through interactive workshops and practical sessions, attendees will gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge tools and techniques used in modern bioinformatics research.

The participant of the training will be able to:

Course content

  • One-hour theory on introducing Bioinformatics and its application in research and development.
  • One hour hands on session on biological databases (UniprotKB, PDB, PDBSum)
  • One-hour session on biomolecules visualization tool (Discovery studio)
  • One hour session on protein structure prediction and evaluation (Swiss model, energy and stereo chemistry calculation)
  • One hour session on molecular docking and result analysis (Swiss Dock and PIPL)
  • Three hours’ session on protein sequence analysis and homology searches (BLAST, Clustal X, Phlogenetic Tree, PSort, Membrane protein prediction, vexijen)

Assessment

Participant competency will be assessed on MCQs based exam. 50% score is required to pass the exam. Passing the exam is mandatory for the training Certificate.

Duration

8 hours, interactive sessions. Each session is comprised of 4 hours conducted on two consecutive days.
